Kitsap Community Resources gave more than $2 million in grants to Kitsap energy customers needing assistance to pay their energy bills October 2009 through July 2010.

The agency issued grants to more than 4,000 households from the federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program and Puget Sound Energy’s Home Energy Lifeline Program, according to a Puget Sound Energy news release.

A qualified low-income Puget Sound Energy customer can receive credits totaling up to $1,000 from each of the two programs. Customers received an average $400 per household.
