Food drive in Bremerton:

Food bank donations are being accepted in Bremerton at 55 Fairgrounds Road, Suite 100, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Nov. 18. The donations will go toward providing Kitsap families holiday meals. Lingenbrink Orthodontics along with local food banks have a goal to provide holiday meals to 50 Kitsap families. Bremerton Housing Authority garage sale:

Bremerton Housing Authority will have a garage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday It will be off Russell Road at the old Westpark site. Items for sale will include office furniture, light fixtures, plumbing supplies, gardening tools as well as other items to fix-up the house. There will be no early previewing.

AAA defensive driver course in Bremerton:

A defensive driving skill course will be offered in Bremerton through the AAA Driver Improvement Program on Oct. 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will be held at Westside Improvement Club, 4109 West E Street. The course costs $16 per person and will cover practical guidance for traffic accident prevention and enhance confidence in drivers. Registration is required. Pet leash workshop:

The Kitsap Humane Society will have a leash workshop from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday for owners interested in learning proper leash handling techniques. The workshop will be at the society’s training center in Silverdale. The cost is $15 and participants are asked to register by e-mailing dcase@kitsap-humane.org.

Driver safety class for seniors:

A driver safety class is scheduled for Nov. 2 and 3 as a refresher course for seniors sponsored by Bay Pointe Retirement Community in Bremerton. Attendance is required on both days from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $14 and $12 for AARP members. To enroll, call Marcia Brown at (360) 373-9904.
