Winifred Gunnison, 91

Winifred Gunnison died Oct. 17, 2008. The Bremerton resident was 91.

She was born to Michael and Bridget (McNul-ty) Deacy on Oct. 7, 1917 in New York.

Winnie graduated from St. Barnabas High School in Bronx, N.Y. In July 1948, she married Joseph B. Gunnison in Manhattan’s St. Patrick’s Cathedral. He preceded her in death in 1966.

Winnie worked as an executive secretary and homemaker. She was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, the Legion of Mary and the Rosary-Altar Society. Winnie loved her children and grandchildren. She was a tireless volunteer and lived to assist those in need.

She is survived by her son, Michael, of New Hampshire; and her daughter, Mariel, of Bremerton.

A rosary and funeral mass was held Oct. 21. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven in Hawthorne, N.Y. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel and Hodder & Son Funeral Home.
