This year’s Kitsap County Veterans Day event focuses on the Bataan Death March.

The event is slated for Wed., Nov. 11 at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds Pavilion. Doors open at 9 a.m. with the ceremony beginning at 10:30 a.m.

The highlight of the event is an 11-minute, one-man play entitled “The Rescue of the Doomed Ghost Soldiers of Bataan” by Anthony Zendejas. Event coordinators are searching for family members who either lost loved ones during the Bataan Death March (April 1942) or who were rescued in the heroic 1945 military victory.

The event is free and open to the public and will feature antique military vehicles on display.

Those who had family members in the march, call Sandra Smith at (360) 876-0255 so reserved seating can be coordinated.
