Dump lines may get long
The Olympic Transfer Station in Bremerton is getting some needed upgrades, which could result in longer than usual lines from January 17 through January 21, according to the Kitsap County Department of Public Works.
Construction and network projects to replace aging equipment and upgrade the computer operating system are scheduled during this period, and are expected to slow down service. Customers who an a hurry may want to use another local facility or arrive early in the morning, according to Education and Communications Coordinator Vicki Bushnell.
On January 17 construction may interrupt normal weighing operations. On January 18 and January 19 scales will be fully operational but no swipe card service will be available.
The upgrades will be installed on January 20 and January 21, but there may be some bugs in the system that will need to be resolved at that time.
Bushnell asked that customers’ patience will be appreciated during this time, as employees learn the new system.
The Olympic Station is the only Kitsap County waste facility that is open every day, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
