Charly Hennegan, a seventh grader at Central Kitsap Junior High, usually doesn’t have big plans for Friday nights.
“I would probably sit around at home and watch TV,” she said.
To get kids off the couch, and keep them away from trouble, the Haselwood Family YMCA is kicking off Teen Nites on June 17, giving teens a supervised place to congregate Friday and Saturday nights.
The YMCA encourages all youth to attend the event. Teen Nites are free of charge and attendees do not need to own a facility membership. The only requirements to attend include photo identification, a completed waiver form — which can be found online, and a positive attitude.
Throughout the night, teens will have total access to the “Y’s” facilities — from workout equipment to the pool.
Teen Nites:
grades 9-12, Fridays 9 - 11:30 p.m.
grades 6-8, Saturdays 8:30 - 11 p.m.
