A 54 year old Central Kitsap man is dead after suffering multiple stab wounds in an assault that occurred at a residence in the 8500 block of Covina Loop NE in East Bremerton. According to the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office, the man's 55 year old wife is suspected to be responsible for the killing and is being treated for severe burns and smoke inhalation at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Police said she is not in custody at this time.

The man that was stabbed to death on Sunday in East Bremerton has been identified by Kitsap County Coroner Greg Sandstrom as 54-year-old Alan J. Charpentier. Autopsy results should be available sometime this afternoon, Sandstrom said.

Portland was found starving in a field in Snohomish County when he was discovered last June. Shortly after, the thoroughbred horse was retrieved by SAFE (Save a Forgotten Equine), an organization that focuses on rescuing, rehabbing, and retraining horses that have faced neglect or abuse.

Bremerton police officers forcibly entered a second-floor apartment on the morning of Saturday, Sept. 6, after a man, allegedly using methamphetamine, broke the glass out of a second-floor window and held a baby outside several times. The baby was taken safely into protective custody and the man has been jailed.

David Michael Navarro, 38, a former Puget Sound Naval Shipyard employee and Belfair Elementary School PTA president, was sentenced Sept. 8 in U.S. District Court in Tacoma to 23 years in prison and lifetime of supervised release for four child pornography offenses, announced U.S. Attorney Jenny A. Central Kitsap resident Alana Kemppainen-Cartwright, 23, was killed early in the morning Wednesday, Sept. 10, after being struck by vehicle in the 5500 block of Tracyton Boulevard. A 25-year-old man she was walking with was also hit by the car and was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with critical injuries.
