13-year-old arrested for stabbing man with knife kept in her bra

A 13-year-old girl suspected of stabbing a Kingston resident with a knife she kept in her bra said she was defending a 24-year-old man.

Bremerton police were called to the melee at the ARCO station at the intersection of Sixth Street and Naval Avenue at 8:49 p.m. Aug. 11, according to police reports.

The brawl, which reportedly involved several people, started when a 20-year-old woman said she was “touched inappropriately” during a party.

When officers arrived, they found a bruised 24-year-old Bremerton man in the alley between Fifth and Sixth streets. He said two males “jumped” him, one showing a gun, and left in separate vehicles. The man was taken to Harrison Medical Center for treatment of his injuries to his face and body.

Police found one of the vehicles that left the site in an alley behind the 2100 block of 11th Street with a gun inside. A 23-year-old Bremerton man was detained and police found a loaded handgun magazine and 12 bullets from his pants pocket. At that time, a 23-year-old Kingston man approached police with a stab wound in his torso.

The Bremerton man was booked into the Kitsap County jail for investigation of unlawful display of a firearm. The Kingston man was taken to Harrison Medical Center for his stab wounds and fourth-degree assault charges were forwarded to the prosecutor’s office. The juvenile female, estimated by witnesses to be about 13 years old, was found by police in the 1900 block of Fifth Street. She admitted to carrying a folding knife in her bra and said she was defending the 24-year-old Bremerton man assaulted in the alley. She was taken to juvenile detention for investigation of second-degree assault.
