Forza opens new coffee shop in Silverdale

A new coffee shop opened in Silverdale Oct. 9.

Forza Coffee Company, a chain with 23 locations in Washington, chose to open a new store on Silverdale Way because of Silverdale’s family-friendly feel and abundance of service organizations, co-owner Alan Tandy said. Since its opening, it began providing coffee every Sunday for the Silverdale United Methodist Church across the street, as well as every Tuesday when the church feeds the homeless.

Because coffee shops are usually a “morning business,” Tandy said, Forza serves beer and wine starting at 4 p.m. and occasionally invites musicians to perform in the evening to keep customers coming all day.

Forza hired 12 minimum-wage employees before opening, five of which work 32-hour weeks.

Though Forza has plenty of competition with the coffee shops already in Silverdale, Tandy said he is confident Forza will stand
