The Bremerton City Council on Wednesday confirmed Rabecca Hasart as the city’s new director of financial services.

Hasart previously spent eight years as the finance director and city clerk in the City of Washougal and seven years as the finance manager of DuPont.

The confirmation comes more than four months after the retirement of former Financial Services Director Barbara Stephenson, who held the post for five months. Stephenson had filled the position vacated by her predecessor, Andy Parks, who was fired by Mayor Patty Lent in January. Finance officer Cathy Johnson served as the interim director since Stephenson’s retirement.

Hasart’s scheduled first day is Dec. 1, the same day the Council is expected to approve the city’s 2011 budget. She was appointed with a starting yearly salary of about $117,000, less than Stephenson’s starting salary of $123,000.

The Council voted 9-0 for Hasart’s confirmation.
