A 43-year-old Bremerton man was arrested Nov. 27 after punching a neighbor and threatening to kill him in a disagreement over whether the neighbor had an affair with the man’s wife while he was in jail.

Police were called to the 1700 block of Rainier Avenue at 2:53 p.m. when a 34-year-old woman reported that her 33-year-old husband was assaulted by the 43-year-old in their driveway. The 43-year-old ran north toward 19th Street and the 33-year-old and his brother tried to follow him, according to police reports.

Police found the 43-year-old and 33-year-old in the 2200 block of Callow Avenue. As they handcuffed the 43-year-old, he told the 33-year-old he would kill him if he talked to the police.

The 33-year-old man told officers he was home washing his van when the 43-year-old man approached him and punched him in his right eye, knocking him into the van. The 43-year-old had just been released from prison and accused the 33-year-old of having an affair with his wife while he was jailed. The 33-year-old man said no such relationship happened and he and his wife were friends with the 43-year-old man’s wife. He had injuries to his right cheek bone and eyebrow.

The 43-year-old man was taken to Kitsap County jail for investigation of first-degree assault and harassment.
