About 19 cars were damaged and more than 100 people evacuated after a car went up in flames in the Bremerton Fairfield Inn and Suites parking garage March 18.

The Bremerton Fire Deparment ruled the source of the fire as “undetermined.”

Bremerton police were called to the hotel on Fourth Street at about 10:42 p.m. on reports of a vehicle fire inside the parking garage, according to police reports. Officers found a Toyota Tacoma engulfed in flames with the garage’s ventilation fans running and sprinkler heads activated. Bremerton firefighters arrived to extinguish the fire.

Between 100 and 150 hotel guests were evacuated from the building and were directed to sit inside Kitsap Transit buses to keep warm in the wet weather. Police blocked several streets surrounding the area. A total of 19 cars sustained smoke damage, three of those with minor physical damage, said Deputy Fire Marshal Brian Marceau. There was no damage to the hotel. Guests were allowed back into the hotel three hours later.
