June 24, 2011 · Updated 1:15 PM
A 29-year-old Bremerton man was arrested June 9 for assaulting another man who had attempted to defend the honor of a woman waiting in line at a Jack in the Box.
The 29-year-old was waiting in line to order food at the Jack in the Box on Wheaton Way at 1:46 p.m. when he began to talk to a woman also waiting in line. The man said “something rude” to her. Her friend, a 21-year-old man, told the 29-year-old not to bother her.
The suspect then punched the 21-year-old in the face. Another customer intervened and broke up the fight. The 21-year-old sustained several large bruises on his forehead and declined medical aid.
When police questioned the suspect about the incident, the 29-year-old admitted that there was an argument but said that the 21-year-old hit him first. The 29-year-old was arrested for two counts of assault and booked into Kitsap County jail.
