Kitsap County Commissioner Charlotte Garrido tonight will discuss the first five months of work produced by the Connecting Washington Task Force. She will also seek input from community members related to transportation issues in Kitsap County.

The group, formed by Governor Chris Gregoire, is charged with developing a 10-year funding strategy for statewide transportation with hopes of presenting a plan to the 2012 legislature.

The public session begins at 4:30 p.m. at the Norm Dicks Government Center in Bremerton.

“Hearing from people about local experiences will help advance this discussion in providing principles that support our area’s needs,” said Garrido.

The Connecting Washington Task Force, made up of nearly three dozen elected officials, members of state legislative transportation committees, tribal representatives, organized labor, trade associations and businesses, has met since July 2011.
