The Bremerton Patriot is pleased to welcome James Mange to the staff as a sports. schools, and community reporter.

Mange brings considerable experience to the role, having worked his way from sports writer to editor of the Clinton County News and the DeWitt-Bath Review, both based in St. Johns, Mich.

Mange earned five writing awards from the Michigan Press Association’s Better Newspaper contest between 1999 and 2001, including back-to-back first place finishes for his sports columns.

Mange now lives in Silverdale with his wife, and their two children. Since moving to

Washington in 2003, Mange has been working as a freelance writer, and had his first play produced at the Changing Scene Theatre Northwest, in Bremerton.

“I’m excited about returning to the writing I love the most,” Mange said. “I’m a huge high school sports fan, and a strong believer in the community news concept. The Patriot has the type of community concern I appreciate, and I’m proud to call it my new home.”
