July 4, 2008 · Updated 12:10 PM
The East Bremerton branch of Kitsap Bank located at Wheaton Mall was robbed at gunpoint by an unknown suspect at 11:10 a.m. Tuesday, according to a release from the Bremerton Police Department. The suspect used a black stocking cap to cover his face and wore a light-colored long-sleeved shirt and blue jeans at the time of the robbery, police said.
According to the report, the suspect walked into the bank, displayed a handgun and ordered everyone to the ground. The man then turned his attention toward the tellers and demanded money. Tellers complied with the gunmans demands and gave him an undisclosed amount of money. Police said he placed the money in a bag before fleeing on foot.
No one was injured during the incident. Bremerton Police detectives are continuing their investigation.
The robbery is the fourth in the past seven months to take place in East Bremerton and is the second to occur at the Wheaton Way branch of Kitsap Bank.
On Nov. 2, 2005, a white male described as having thick sideburns and a mustache, in his early 20s, robbed the branch in the mid-morning hours.
On the afternoon of Dec. 22, 2005, a white male, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and 180 pounds, got away with an undisclosed amount of cash from the Kitsap Bank on Lebo Boulevard.
The most recent robbery prior to this week occurred April 20 at the Wheaton Way location of Key Bank with the suspect described as a black male, standing six feet tall, between 25 and 30 years old.
Police detectives have previously said they do not think there is a connection between the robberies.
