Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue and the Board of Fire Commissioners will recognize two east Bremerton residents on Monday, March 11 for their actions on March 4 in helping prevent the spread of a nearby fire.

The recognition will take place at 4:30 p.m. at the Fire and Rescue Administration Building at 5300 NW Newberry Hill Road in Silverdale.

On Monday, March 4, Jere Sanchez and Augie Lujan observed a fire in a motorhome that was parked in their neighbor’s driveway.  Knowing their neighbor wasn’t home at the time they called 911 and acted quickly to get water on the fire with a garden hose.

"Their actions prevented the fire from becoming larger and extending to the home itself," Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue said in a press release.
