Soroptimist of Bremerton honors award recipients

Soroptimist International of Greater Bremerton Area will present three awards to local women making a difference in the Greater Bremerton community at a ceremony May 28 at 5:30 p.m. at Ambrosia Catering in East Bremerton.

The Women’s Opportunity Award is a cash award that helps women complete their education. This year’s winner will use the cash award to complete her associate’s degree at Olympic College. Her goal is to become a certified medical assistant. The winner will be announced at the event.

The Violet Richard Award is a monetary award given to a young woman who is active in community service and to her charity of choice. Awardee Tucker Anderson, 14 years old, has volunteered with the Bremerton Foodline since she was 5 years old and has designated the Bremerton Foodline as her charity of choice.

The Ruby Award honors a woman who has made a difference for women and girls in her local community. Rosie Ludlow is a co-founder of Scarlet Road, a nonprofit organization that serves survivors of sexual exploitation in Kitsap County.
