The driver of a Peninsula AllShred delivery truck tried unsuccessfully to drive under a covered carport at the Arc bingo hall Thursday afternoon.

Fire crews from Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue and Bremerton Fire Department responded to the 3300 block of Perry Avenue in East Bremerton and found the vehicle wedged underneath the carport, completely stuck.

“This kind of thing happens all the time,” CKFR Lt. Dave Olson said. “It’s not uncommon.”

Structural damage to the carport forced crews to build temporary support beams to keep the area safe while the vehicle was removed.

Olson said crews planned to deflate the truck’s tires and drive it out without causing further damage.

No damage estimates were given on the carport or truck, but the carport will have to be replaced or torn down completely.

No height signs were posted outside the carport, which will now no longer be used.
