Learning can be noisy

Chelise Colson of Bremerton made a trip to Evergreen Park Sunday afternoon with a group of five children, some of whom were borrowed from a friend. On a regular day, the children would play on the playground or kick a soccer ball at the park. On this day, her swarm played the violin, banged on drums and took turns playing a flute and a clarinet.
Its a pretty good event, Colson said. Its very interesting; they get to play the little instruments.
Evergreen Park was a bit noisier than usual on that afternoon as a steady stream of children and parents invaded to learn about music and fun. At any given time, there were dozens of folks visiting and playing at the KidsPorts Childrens Museums new traveling exhibit, Ping! Pop! Ka-boiiiing! Discover Sound. The exhibit was from 3-6 p.m at the park, located at 1400 Park Ave.
The exhibit offered wind instruments, a drum display and one of the more popular spots for the younger set a display for children to hit pots and pans with a drum stick.
