Strawberries, chocolate, and champagne.

The name says it all for the Strawberry, Chocolate, and Champagne Entertainment and Silent Auction which takes place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on June 16 at the Kitsap Golf & Country Club.

The event, put on by the YWCA of Kitsap County, is a fund-raiser for the organization’s Client Fund.

Executive director Linda Joyce said the fund helps the YWCA give services that grants do not cover. She said the Client Fund allows the YWCA to buy medications or provide rides for domestic violence victims and their children. Other examples include helping women get their hair done for job interviews or buy shoes needed for specific jobs like nursing or construction.

The night also is about relaxation, Joyce said.

“Every opportunity we get to thank the community, we take it,” she said.

The dinner is in June because the organization does no fund raising between Aug. 1 and Dec. 1, instead focusing on supporting the United Way, Joyce said.

The musical group Blue Fish Tango will perform as attendees bid on items provided by local businesses like Goodies and Firestone Tires. There is even a timeshare in Hawaii offered by a former board member and current avid supporter, Joyce said.

Joyce said the auction is normally during the YWCA’s Women of Achievement celebration but made it separate this time around.

“The YWCA is wanting to get volunteers and supporters together to be appreciated, relax, and have fun,” she said.
