No contest for board’s incumbents

Lee Ann Powers and Bruce Richards are two names not familiar to voters from the recent primary elections. But they are appearing on the Nov. 8 ballot.

That is because Powers and Richards are running unopposed for re-election in their respective district five and district one Central Kitsap school board of directors positions.

Powers has served on the CKSD board since 2001 and next month her four-year term expires.

Richards was appointed this month in 2002 to replace a board director who moved out of state.

Richards’ appointment was then validated in the Nov. 2003 election but he remained on his predecessor’s rotation schedule and his position will therefore be in front of voters this winter again.

He was fined a minimum $100 recently by the Public Disclosure Commission in
