Summer lunches available for kids

For students who receive free or reduced lunch throughout the school year, the option for a good meal will also be available throughout much of the summer.

To ensure bellies are being filled while school isn’t in session, both Bremerton and Central Kitsap School Districts will be offering free meals to district students 18 and younger.

Bremerton enrolled students may receive meals at various locations throughout the city. Those seeking lunch and a snack Monday through Friday may do so at Crownhill Elementary, YMCA (east Bremerton) and the Naval Avenue Boys and Girls Club from June 23 through Aug. 15. Breakfast and lunch will be served Monday through Friday at West Sound Tech June 23 through July 10. Monday through Thursday, lunch will be served at Housing Kitsap’s Nollwood address June 23 through July 31. July 7-Aug. 8, lunch will be served at Blueberry Park, Manette Park, Haddon Park and Kiwanis Park. MVMS will serve Monday through Thursday, except July 3 starting June 30 through July 24. For more locations, contact Lisa Johnson at 360-473-4716.

In Central Kitsap, three locations will offer lunch from noon to 12:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday July 7 through July 31. Esquire Hills, PineCrest and Woodlands Elementary Schools will be the food sites this summer. For more information, call the CKSD Food Services Office at 360-662-1090.
