Scouts take a break

Twenty-three Scouts and nine adults from Silverdale’s Troop 1539 attended summer camp Aug. 3-9 at Camp Emerald Bay on Santa Catalina Island, California. The trip was the culmination of two years of fund-raising and planning. The Scouts earned a total of 54 merit badges and nine other aquatic awards while participating in events such as an outpost sea canoe trip, Dutch oven cooking, sleeping on the beach under the stars, snorkeling, SCUBA, hiking, mountain biking, “Aquacade” camp games and more.
