Washington State Patrol (WSP) will step up patrols this Labor Day weekend.

Extra troopers will be out and about in Kitsap County today and tomorrow looking for speeding vehicles. Additional troopers will be out tonight focusing on impaired driving offenses.

WSP offers the following safety tips to motorists:

• Think before you drink; appoint a designated sober driver

• Properly wear seat belts and child passenger restraints

• Obey posted speed limits

• Stay focused when you’re driving

Speeding and impaired driving are the leading causes of traffic fatalities, according to WSP.
