A Washington State trooper on a routine traffic patrol in Bremerton stopped a vehicle for speeding early Wednesday morning, resulting in three arrests, including several drug charges.

The trooper was working in the area of Wheaton Way and Broad Street when he observed a speeding black Dodge pass through his radar.

He stopped the vehicle and spoke with the occupants and detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside.

After conducting a series of field sobriety tests, he arrested the 21-year-old female driver, of Bremerton, for DUI.

Further questioning of the two passengers, a 22-year-old Bremerton man and a 23-year-old man, also of Bremerton, revealed both had outstanding warrants.

As the 23-year-old was placed into custody, the other man fled from the scene on foot. He was quickly apprehended by two assisting troopers after receiving a quick jolt from a Taser.

Troopers recovered drug paraphernalia and more than 2 pounds of marijuana from inside the vehicle. All three subjects were booked into the Kitsap County Jail.
