A 25-year-old Bremerton woman was arrested early Thursday morning for allegedly hitting a Bremerton Police vehicle with a K-9 inside, then leaving the scene, according to Washington State Patrol (WSP).

WSP was assisting Bremerton Police with a traffic stop around 1:30 a.m. on northbound Highway 3 near the Kitsap Way exit when the woman, driving an Oldsmobile Aurora, struck the Bremerton Police Ford Crown Victoria, which was only occupied by the K-9. The officers were standing outside of their vehicles at the time of the collision, according to WSP. The officers and K-9 were uninjured.

The woman fled in her vehicle and troopers caught up with her on Kitsap Way under the Highway 3 overpass. They took her into custody without incident.

The woman was charged with DUI, hit and run and reckless driving, according to a WSP report.

The woman's vehicle was totaled. The Bremerton Police vehicle sustained about $4,000 worth of damage.
