An 86-year-old Bremerton woman died Aug. 29 at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle from injuries sustained Aug. 20 when her vehicle rolled on top of her.
Gertrude L. Thompson was driving a 1984 Cadillac DeVille around 7 p.m. Aug. 20 on West Belfair Valley Road, three miles south of Bremerton, when she stopped to look at a demolished building, according to Washington State Patrol.
She got out of the vehicle, accidentally putting it in reverse in the process. While Thompson was standing beside the Cadillac, it rolled backwards and ran over top of her.
She was pinned under the vehicle until a passerby moved it off of her, according to WSP.
Thompson was initially transported to Tacoma General Hospital before being taken to Harborview.
