In what she called a "disclosure forum," Bremerton write-in mayoral candidate Deborah Jackson said she was working with Portland Police Detective Mike Malanaphy to clear up a warrant for her arrest for second-degree forgery in Oklahoma.

"We have only received phone calls from Ms. Jackson and someone claiming to be her attorney," Portia McNeill, administrative assistant with the Oklahoma County District Attorney's Office.

McNeill said Jackson "never had an attorney file an appearance on her case" and therefore is restricted in the representation available to her.

"Any attorney that wants to deal with us on her behalf has to contact the Oklahoma Bar to see if he can practice in our state," McNeill added.

Detective Malanaphy said Ms. Jackson did in fact contact him regarding her ex-employer and he did file a report, but as the case is more than three years old, it is beyond the statute of limitations and no charges will be filed. Malanaphy also said a criminal background check was done on Jackson's former employer and reports were filed against him before and after 2004 for passing bad checks, but no arrests were ever made on those charges.

Despite the report from Malanaphy, Jackson is still wanted for forgery, according to Oklahoma County Assistant District Attorney Martha McMurry.

"We have received the report from Detective Malanaphy," McMurry said. "But, the warrant is still active."
