Due to cold and potentially snowy weather conditions, Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management has activated the county's severe weather shelter plan.

The two severe weather shelters in Bremerton and Port Orchard will open at 6 p.m. today, Nov. 13. The shelters will serve all citizens in the area who require safe overnight shelter where none is available, according to KCDEM.

The Bremerton shelter is located at The Coffee Oasis, 822 Burwell St., and the Port Orchard shelter is at the Spirit of Truth Fellowship, 902 Dekalb St.

The shelters will be open 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. Once the shelters close at 9 p.m. each night, no one will be allowed in.

Continued activation of the county's severe weather shelter plan is contingent upon future weather predictions.
