Due to freezing weather conditions, the Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management has activated the county’s Severe Weather Shelter Plan.

The severe weather shelter will open at 6 p.m. Monday and remain open each night until 7 a.m. Friday. The shelter will serve all citizens in our area who require safe overnight shelter where none is available.

The shelter is located at the Coffee Oasis, 822 Burwell St. Once the shelter has closed for the night, at 9 p.m., no one will be allowed back in.

For more information about the process, call 211 or Jim Stowers, Kitsap Community Resources, (360) 473-2047.
