An elderly man was hit by a car outside Tuesday a medical office when a woman mistook the drive setting for reverse — and then the gas pedal for the brake.

The 90-year-old woman was parked at a medical office at the 2700 block of Hemlock Street in Bremerton when she drove forward, hitting the man on a sidewalk at about 9:55 a.m., Bremerton Police and Fire departments confirmed. Then the woman, who meant to hit the brake, pressed on the gas pedal, causing her vehicle to crash six inches into the building, a Bremerton police officer said.

The victim had no identification on him and was transported to Harrison Medical Center with wrist injuries.
