No injuries were reported in a Navy Yard City kitchen fire in an unattended house Tuesday.

Crews from South Kitsap Fire and Rescue were called to the residence near the corner of Third Avenue West and West Earhart Street at about 6:30 p.m., South Kitsap Fire Capt. Nathan Post said.

Crews found a small kitchen fire near the stove in the unattended house and extinguished the blaze in a matter of seconds, he said.

The Kitsap County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause.

Post said the residence had smoke and heat damage throughout, but the fire was contained to the kitchen.
