The 18-year-old sailor from Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor who died in a one-car wreck on State Highway 3 Saturday afternoon was identified Sunday as Mark S. Schroeder.

Three others riding as passengers in the 2008 Hyundai Tiburon were injured and taken to Harrison Medical Center, according to a statement from the Washington State Patrol. Schroeder had not been identified pending notification of his next of kin.

At 3:38 p.m. the car was driving south at Windy Point, two miles south of Bremerton, when it struck a concrete barrier. Schroeder overcorrected and lost control, striking a power poles with the driver's side door.

Two of the injured passengers are 20 years old, one is 19.

All were wearing seatbelts, the statement said. Neither drugs nor alcohol are suspected as contributing to the crash.
