Bremerton School District names new Renaissance principal
June 18, 2010 · 5:24 PM
Bremerton High School teacher Kristen Morga was named Renaissance High School's new principal Tuesday, replacing Lynn Caddell, who is taking over the Washington Youth Academy.
Morga, born and raised in Bremerton, has taught computer classes, accounting, financial literacy and web design at Bremerton High School for the past six years and also started a youth mentoring program. Her new post at the alternative high school will be her first job as a principal.
"I'm really excited to be working at Renaissance High School," Morga said, adding that she had witnessed some of her former students doing better in school at Renaissance. "I just hope to help students in giving them that extra support."
Morga met with Renaissance students and staff this week and said she enjoys the close-knit environment there, strengthened by outgoing president Caddell.
"One of my strengths is being able to build those relationships," she said. "I know I can't ever be Lynn, but we can move forward."
