The Bremerton School District named Patty Grenquist as Kitsap Lake Elementary’s new principal on Friday, replacing longtime district Principal Flint Walpole.

Grenquist, who has lived in Tracyton for more than 20 years, was principal at Greywolf Elementary in Sequim for five years. Before that, she was a teacher at Breidablik Elementary in Poulsbo.

Ever since her grandson attended Kitsap Lake, Grenquist had always wanted to work there, she said.

“It just is such a fabulous place,” she said. “I’ve always been attracted to that school.”

Grenquist will start her new job July 1. Her predecessor, Walpole, is leaving the district after serving as principal in schools throughout Bremerton for 22 years.
