Josiah Rowell kicks off campaign for 35th District Representative
Central Kitsap High School graduate and Mason County resident Josiah Rowell hosted a campaign kick-off event March 21.
The Navy veteran was joined by more than 100 supporters and friends where he shared his campaign plans and vision for the voters and small businesses of the 35th Legislative District.
“I’m so thankful for this show of support,” said Rowell following the event. “I was especially appreciative of the turnout from the Republican legislators who attended," he added.
Sen. Jan Angel, Reps. JT Wilcox, Hans Zeiger, Matt Manweller, Jesse Young and Chad Magendanz joined in support of Rowell, who was introduced by Rep. Drew MacEwen.
“Josiah's proven leadership as a combat veteran will be a valuable asset in the House of Representatives” said Rep. MacEwen. “He brings a fresh and energetic campaign to the 35th District. It’s candidates and leaders like Josiah who remind us that the brightest days lie ahead and not behind us.”
Rowell has now raised more than $25,000 for his campaign, more than double the amount raised by his two opponents combined.
“We’re off to a great start, and I’m anxious to meet more of the families and the voters of the 35th District in the months ahead,” said Rowell.
Rowell and his wife of almost ten years Alicia now make their home in Union where he returned last year after his third deployment in Afghanistan. He continues to serve as a Naval Reservist, based out of Bremerton, and considers “it an honor and privilege to serve” his country.
Rowell is running for the legislative seat currently held by Kathy Haigh. The 35th District includes parts of the communities of Silverdale, Bremerton, Port Orchard, all of Mason County, and a portion of Thurston County. Filing for the position will be in May, with a primary election scheduled for Aug. 5.
