In our opinion: Advance Brown and Burlingame to general election

Those two should be incumbent Democrat Josh Brown and Republican Abby Burlingame.
Primary ballots are due August 17.
Democrat Wally Carlson has waged a spirited campaign, bringing to light issues he says are holding Kitsap County back from achieving its potential.
Republican David Corley’s campaign hasn’t been as visible, but the addition of two Republicans in the race enriches the debate.
It’s our hope that if Corley and Carlson do not advance to the general election, they will stay involved in community issues.
Although Brown and Burlingame are about the same age, in their late 20s and early 30s, they diverge on the issues and will provide general election voters a clear choice.
Brown sees Kitsap as part of the future of the Puget Sound region, for good and bad. Burlingame sees Kitsap as needing to define itself as separate, for good and bad. Both have demonstrated a willingness to engage the community, ask questions and are eager to put the energy and time into the job.
