A homeless man was found dead in a forested area of East Bremerton June 23 just before 6 a.m.

An autopsy was performed but the cause and manner of death has not been released pending toxicology reports, the Kitsap County Coroner’s Office said Tuesday.

Adam Scott Smorodin, 38, was found near Almira Drive in a tent face down by another homeless man, 48, who knew him, according to Sheriff’s Office reports.

The two were supposed to meet and the 48-year-old told deputies that he last saw the man June 19 at Handy Andy’s on State Highway 303.

The 48-year-old checked for a pulse and when he found none, walked to Kitsap Mental Health and brought two security officers to the site who then called 911.

Bottles of prescription drugs and syringes were found near the body. A BB gun and a small crossbow were also recovered.

Smorodin may have been addicted to prescription medications and is believed to have a history of seizures, according to the report.
