Too late indeed I Letter
Regarding methadone clinics in Bremerton, which first appeared online Jan. 24 and is on the front page of this print edition, it is indeed “too late” for an untold number of local residents who wanted and needed what for many years has been the “gold standard” of treatment of opioid dependence, and whose lives have been destroyed, and lost, to date.

Sales tax I Letter
Enactment of a one tenth of one percent sales tax, in our county, might allow us to have a mental health court. There, a delusional nonviolent offender could be promised a clean record in exchange for complying with taking their prescribed meds, and for keeping their appointments with counselors, a psychologist, ARNP or psychiatrist.

Important Prop | Letter
I doubt many realize that veteran’s family members are not covered for any health care services. A lot of basic health care that people take for granted, like dental and vision, are all but impossible for families living on a veteran’s pension.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, nearly 15 percent of the residents in Kitsap County are veterans. With such a significant portion of our population being veterans, finding ways to honor and support them should be a way of life in our community.

End the reign — It’s time to put an end to the Bill Mahan dynasty on the Bremerton Port Commission. Mahan had the good sense to not face the voters again after the infamous and costly “stealth tax” debacle of 2006. However, the same political insiders club that supported Mahan has found a political clone to run as his replacement.
