Thank you
Lawmakers know the value of foot ferries
On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Marine Transportation Association of Kitsap (MTAK), I would like to publicly thank Kitsap Countys legislators for their untiring effort to ensure affordable, seamless, rider-oriented and environmentally sensitive passenger-only ferry service transportation between the Kitsap County and Seattle. Senators Phil Rockefeller (D-Bainbridge Island) and Bob Oke (R-Port Orchard) deserve a great deal of credit for their persistent efforts in addressing this need. Representative Beverly Woods (R-Kingston) was instrumental in the House in achieving successful passage of the legislation. All nine Kitsap legislators voted in support of ESSB 6787.
The successful passage of ESSB 6787 now provides the foundation for consistent and reliable service that is locally controlled and sensitive to both commuter and tourist needs.
BEVERLY KINCAID
President, Marine Transportation Assn. of Kitsap
