Four local teams — three girls and one boys — are still in the hunt for a state playoff berth as the regional tournaments get underway this weekend.
The Kitsap Pumas have re-signed another member of the 2014 Premier Development League national finalist squad. Michael Chamberlain, who assumed the role of a very physical and hard-working target man for the Pumas, appeared in 17 games last season.
Central Kitsap 65, Hazen 33: At Franklin Pierce, the Cougars jumped out to a 16-4 run early and never looked back in a loser-out game. MacKenzie Page paced the Cougars with a game-high 15 points, while Maddie White tossed in 13 and Taylor Krouse added 12.
Port of Bremerton Commissioner Roger Zabinski announced in a press release that he would not seek re-election when his term ends in December. “I will finish my term; however I think it is only fair that I let you know of my plans so that others may consider filing and running for the position,” stated Zabinski in the statement.
