There was reason for celebration at Memorial Stadium on Wednesday, April 17, when Bremertron defeated Klahowya 3-1 in a non-league soccer match.

It was the Knights’ first win. Since tying Vashon in its season opener on March 13, Bremerton had lost eight straight matches while being outscored by a combined 29-0.

The Knights finally got the monkey off their backs (or was it a Gorilla?) when Ben Tapscott tapped in a shot in the fourth minute against Klahowya. Logan Marsh found the back of the net in the 28th minute and freshman Kyle Johnson scored in the 60th minute for the Knights.

Bremerton had a double assist on all three goals.

Bremerton (0-7 league, 1-7-1 overall) hosted North Kitsap on Thursday, April 18.
