Kitimat hosts regionals

Figure skating will take centre stage at Tamitik January 26-28 when the Snow Valley Skating Club hosts the 2007 Cariboo-North Central regionals.

Club spokesman Amanda Edwards said there will be approximately 250 skaters of all ages taking part in the weekend competition with medals and ribbons to be earned.

For many of those taking part it will be their first competition while for some it will be their swan song.

Edwards said the club was dedicating the wekend to one of its long-time skaters, Stephanie Donnelly, who passed away suddenly last November.

"Stephanie was sheduled to compete in many events and will be missed," she added.

The competition runs 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Admission is free so the club is hoping for a good turnout of spectators.

Rep tourneys start tomorrow

Bantam and PeeWee Rep hockey players from Prince Rupert to Vanderhoof will be here this weekend for four days of tournament play.

Kitimat's Bantams play their first game 7:15 p.m. Thursday night, taking on Terrace in Tamitik.

Meanwhile the hometown PeeWees will be on the ice in KIR, also against Terrace - that one starts at 7 p.m.

Check out the full tourney schedule posted in both Tamitik and KIR.
