Bremerton High School sophomore Bre Casias is one win away from advancing to the Class 3A state girls tennis tournament.

Casias entered districts as a No. 1 seed from the Olympic League, but she lost an opening round match Tuesday at Sprinker Recreation Center in Tacoma to Felicia Doubek of Kennedy High School.

Casias took a 5-7, 6-1, 6-0 consolation victory Thursday over Helen Tam of Union High School. This puts her in a winner-to-state, loser-out match, to be played Friday or Saturday depending on weather.

"She started out kind of slow," Bremerton coach Casey Lindberg said of Casias in her come-from-behind victory Thursday, adding Tam appeared to tire in the second and third sets. "She got worn down a bit, but it definitely wasn't an easy win."

Casias was scheduled to play at 1:30 p.m. Friday, but Lindberg said the match was pushed back until 3:30 p.m. and could be bumped to Saturday.
